Abrasive vulcanised fibre discs: The name is in the carrier. Fibre discs belong to the category of coated abrasives and owe their name to the vulcanised fibre backing used in their production: a composite material made of cotton and cellulose fibres. Lightweight yet durable, the backing, in combination with the densely coated abrasive grain of -> aluminium oxide -> zirconium oxide and -> ceramic aluminium oxide forms the basis of powerful fibre discs that can be used effortlessly on even the most demanding surfaces.
