Welding robot

Welding reel
A metal reel is automatically being welded together. The several metal parts are fed to the machine. A hydraulic unit presses those parts together and makes a seam on the inner side causing the part to be laterally locked. This metal reel is afterwards automatically being welded together. The welding positions and dimensions of the reel are freely configurable. Astra-Tec produced this machine for Metavan.

A High Tec filter cloth is being welded together - TIG welding. Astra-Tec produced this machine for Bekaert.
Welding gauge for fuel tanks
Thanks to this gauge a fuel tank can be welded by a robot. The parts of a large fuel tank (for large earth-moving equipment) are being placed in a specifically designed mould. Thank to the ingenious design the entire tank can be welded by the robot in this gauge. Astra-Tec produced this machine for P&C.
Welding aluminium pipes for trusses
At Astra-Tec we are specialists in the field of welding automation. For example, Eurotruss, a leading and international supplier of aluminum truss systems, took Astra-Tec’s latest welding machine into use. This machine is equipped with two new CMT welding machines from Fronius. All welding parameters of the weld for each product are kept for perfect traceability. For the guarantee of safety, the different parts were tested for their strength. The weld was found to be stronger than the parts themselves. This machine loads up to three times faster than the old TIG installation.
Waterproof welding of tubes on a valve
Welding of a thin-walled tube on a radiator valve. The machine is in a configured position. The tube and the valve are being clamped. The machine starts: the hood is being closed and the welding starts. The welding movement is of that kind so that the tube is being welded fully waterproof. At the end of the cycle the hood opens. Astra-Tec made this solution tailored to the needs of Superia.

Welding of wire mesh
The machine welds especially decorations on the cages via wire mesh. Possibility to insert loose wires in gauges. Two induct stations: while 1 gauge is being welded, the parts can be inserted in the other gauge. The machine is freely configurable and is equipped with one round spot welding tongs and one rotating spot welding bar. This spot welding bar can apply several welds to the product at the same time. The machine reaches a rapid traverse speed of 120m per minute. Astra-Tec produced this machine for Misatec.

High-end welding robot
Our modern digital welding machines are plug & play with the robot. The installation and start-up time are limited to the minimum. On the teach pendant (remote control robot) we have the possibility to view, modify and save all necessary settings for the welding jobs. The teach pendant is fitted with several useful shortcut keys for the robot welding. MIG/MAG: Possibility of welding with several welding technologies with the same power source. (Also extremely thin sheets of several materials) Hollow wrist robot ensures better protected cables, improved accessibility in tight welding areas and comfort during offline programming that cannot be underestimated. Welding of steel strip
At profiling lines two coils of steel strip must be welded together. This machine automatically cuts the old and the new coil. The machine brings both parts of steel strip together and carefully welds both parts together. The profiling process can continue. MIG/MAG connection Astra-Tec produced this solution tailored to the needs of the customer.

TIG welding of a part of a brush

Reel machine

Flange production line with integrated plasma cutter
Automated production line voor flanges with integration of Astratec plasma Operation: Input and unstacker A full pallet unmarked flanges is put on a conveyor by a forklift. The conveyor imports the the pallet into the machine. A photcell detects the position. The photocell can be adjusted to the type of flange. The pallet is lifted hydraulic. The PLC positions the the right place for clamping. The gripper clamps the opper flange. Meanwhile the pallet lowers a couple of cm so the gripper can close completely. Press After rolling the flanges they bulge at one side. In the first working station they are straightened hydraulically. Marking This station is equipped with a dot peen scribing unit that is used for engraving all kinds of markings and client logos. Drilling This station contains 2 drilling units for making holes of 3 mm to 16 mm. With the 2 units it is possible to drill 2 holes at once either with the same or a different diameter. Punching In this station the flange is punched to make the centeren over the core go more smoothly. Plasma An existing plasma cutter was integrated in the production line. The plasma cutter is used the create holes with bigger diameters and more complex hole patterns. Chamfer This chamfer unit Prepares the central holes for welding. Press Hydraulic press to push the central hole over as welding preparation. Output/stacker The flanges are automatically stacked and transported out of the machine on a roller conveyor at the output station. Transport between stations For transporting the flanges between stations SCHUNK electromagnets are used.

Laser
CNC laser containing a cutting table of 1500 mm by 3000 mm. The work table moves in and out of the machine. De laser is enclosed and has laser protection glass to protect the operator from any radiation. Included are dust extraction and a intelligent monitor system. This laser cuts and engraves steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass in thicknesses raging from 1 mm to 20 mm.

Cutting and milling work
Alongside to our machine production we put our machinery at your disposal for the creating of your cutting and milling work. Milling work: Our Zayer can mill work pieces up till 10 tons. The milling range is 5000 x 2000 mm x 1500 mm. The Zayer has a rotating head and a magazine containing 60 tools. Via solid edge it is possible to upload 3D models in step or inventor ipt format. This garantees a fast and faultless production. CNC plasma cutting: High definition plasma cutter for cutting of steel, stainless steel and aluminium in thicknesses ranging from 1 mm to 25 mm. The plasma cutter has a cutting range of 1.5 m op 3 m. The high definition plasmabron of kjellberg is provided with the latest contour cut technology. Importable file formats are: dxf, dwg, dstv.

Turntable automation for screen printing of diagnostic slides
Automation for screen printing of diagnostic slides for medical research labs. Operation: Turntable with 4 positions provided with vacuum. Unprinted slides are imported in 7 loading mechanism. In table position 1 a servo driven pick and place brings 7 slides to the turn table. In the next table position are the slides aligned in the correct printing position. At the next post the slides are printed by the screen printing machine. Lastly the sprinted slides are picked up at the edges. During the output movement are the printed slides controlled for quality by a vision system. The approved slides are put down in arrangement while the rejected slides are discarded. While the slides are put down they are brought closer together. The output sheets are moved by a conveyor belt. These steel plates are used to move the slides to the oven. This automation has a cyclus time of less then 5 seconds for 7 slides and consequently produces 84 slides a minute. Astratec produced this machine for Immuno-cell.

Stacking robot
Robot automation for stacking of reinforcement bars for concrete. The robot lifts the reinforcement bars, alternating between de output of the production line (down) and the elevator (up). This allows every second mesh to be placed upside down. The robot makes a gently circling movement during the stacking process, which causes de reinforcement meshes to be nested and thus increases the stacking range. The robot automation is capable of placing 200 reinforcement bars a pallet. Before only 150 pieces a pallet were possible. The reinforcement bars are stacked to a height of 1.2 meters. The elevator lifts de reinforcement bars pneumatically. The grippers of both the robot and elevator are easily adjustable to accommodate all different diameters of the products. The robot communicates with the automation is through profinet. A full end-to-end access (eWon) is also provided, which results in less downtime and a faster return to complete production for the client. Astratec produced this machine for Vandewalle bv.

Clinching automation for precision profiles
Clinching automation for steel precision profiles with lengths up to 6 meters. Operation: A pack of lose precision profiles is placed on the roller conveyor at the input. The profiles are pulled down on the conveyor and are stacked manually 2 by 2 against a positioning plate on the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt moves the profiles sideways until the end stop. In this position are the profiles lifted and locked by the gripper. This gripper is powered by a servo motor which pushes the profile step-by-step through the clinching press at the correct distance. When the gripper from the input reaches the final couple of steps the gripper on the output side takes over to ensure quality clinches. The output gripper positions the profile for stacking. The stacker picks up the profile, tilts it a quarter turn and stacks the profiles on the output conveyor belt. The conveyor belt brings the finished stack beyond the light curtain where the operator can tie the stack together and take it away for delivery. Astratec produced this machine for Voestalpine Präzisionsprofil GmbH.

Welding automation for pressure vessels
Automation for MIG/MAG welding of steel pressure vessels. This welding automation is used for the MIG/MAG welding of steel pressure vessels with diameters ranging from 195 mm to 800 mm. The vessels have lengths from 200 mm to 2654 mm and the largest vessel weighs 350 kilo’s. The pressure tanks are moved on the machine by a lift bridge. Once placed the vessel is clamped and the welding movement begins. This movement is controlled by a servo motor. The MIG/MAG welding torches are pneumatically lowered when the welding commences. The torches can be adjusted to perfection. After the welding process the vessel is released and moved to the correct height for rolling on the output table. Astratec produced this machine for Lorivan.
