Lokeren, 17/01/2025 – thyssenkrupp Materials Belgium is expanding its range with bluemint® steel, the CO2-reduced steel from thyssenkrupp Steel Europe. With this move, thyssenkrupp Materials Belgium is targeting metalworking companies that want to reduce their ecological footprint and make an active contribution to greening industrial value chains.
Significant CO2 reduction thanks to innovative production processes
In bluemint® recycled steel, part of the iron ore is replaced by high-quality recycled steel scrap. This process reduces the amount of coal used during production, resulting in a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions. With a CO2 reduction of up to 64% compared to traditional steel, bluemint® steel offers a solution for companies that want to reduce their Scope 3 emissions and achieve their sustainability goals. Furthermore, the bluemint® production process is independently verified by international certification bodies such as DNV and TÜV Süd, and is in line with the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This ensures that customers can choose a sustainable solution with confidence.
Bluemint® S355MC plates available directly from stock
S355 steel is known for its strength and versatility and is widely used in construction, mechanical engineering and infrastructure. The addition of bluemint® S355MC to the range combines the high-quality properties of structural steel with significantly lower CO2 emissions, giving metalworking companies a sustainable choice without compromising on quality. The plates are in stock at thyssenkrupp warehouses and are available in various standard sizes. They can be decoiled to size and combined with other steel products from the range.
